“After all, you only find out who is swimming naked when the tide goes out” – Warren Buffet

This blog will explore the weekly activities of my foray into the world of accounting.

Currently enrolled in my first ever accounting unit whilst study a double major business degree.

Hopefully you find some of my journey insightful and helpful.

Happy reading.

Step 7: AIA Products & Services

Preface:

Let me begin by stating that these figures are a “guesstimate” and would be extremely variable depending on a multitude of factors. I did a little research to get some of the data but items such as retail income would be hugely variable depending on location and services used at that position. Car parking is easy enough to find however, can have huge disparity depending on time of stay. Passenger service charges was a little hard to find the figure of $8.7 per passenger is worked out on $179.1M income in this field divided by 20.5M passengers. A quick google search of this topic suggest I am in the right area.

Acronymania

How my head feels after reading chapter 4.

I’ve held off on writing Step 1 for Assignment 2. Maybe because I had read some of other people’s first and it scared me away. In hindsight I think I would have been better off watching the restating videos by Maria and having a go at restating my financials first. This may have allowed me to draw back to this information during chapter 4.

The problem with being vague…

The offical marking criteria for ASS#1

There seems to be a lot of confusion around the marking criteria for Assignment 1. In business I am a big believer that when you have a problem you should provide a solution. Your solution may not be correct but its better than complaining you don’t like a something.

The way the Assignment 1 steps and marking criteria have been laid out provides a contradicting and confusing situation. This in turn has lead people who thought they had followed the steps correctly to receive a mark that wasn’t truly reflective of the score they received. Ultimately it would have only been a few marks, however if improved may lead to a better outcome in the future.

In turn, perhaps the marking criteria can be improved to allow clear steps to be followed.

I have update the marking criteria to what I believe would have given clear processes and steps to follow within the document.

Looking forward to others input.
